Bailye and I were out picking and found plain flour sacks… and while we were standing there we thought to ourselves, “what can we do with these?” we decided that we wanted to make some kind of keepsake for ourselves for Mother’s Day. So we came up with tracing the kiddos hands, And then hand embroidering the outline so that it would stay on the flour sack forever!

We love how they turned out! You could make this anytime of year for yourself or for a grandma or loved one as a sweet gift!

Materials needed:

• plain flour sack

• embroidery thread in your choice of color

• scissors

• embroidery needle

• embroidery hoop

• pencil & paper

*possibly an ink pad, if you have a very little one, and can’t get their hand hold still for tracing!!

Steps:

1. Lay flower sack flat — trace hands with a pencil on paper, or an ink pad stamp for the “too wiggly babies”. make sure to only use the ink pad 7 hand print on paper. Then cut out each hand.

2. And/or trace little hands directly on the towel. Then trace the paper hands on the towel. (We also wrote the year so we would remember later. )

3. Use your embroidery hoop to keep tea towel stretched tight during embroidery.

4. With your choice of thread color, use the “Outline Stitch” to trace over the pencil marks.

5. Tie off thread on the backside.

6. Repeat for each hand and the date!
